What iz this?

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, "by extension, the term poster is used to denote a paper panel printed for display as a novelty or as a work of art." In this case, it's nothing more than an excersize, call it my own little special project. It is a creative design outlet for me to take ideas that pop into my head and make them into posters. As a designer I believe it is important to always try to grow, and explore new techiques that enrich your professional work.

PPVRR_100This week I launched a new blog -- The Ping Pong Valley Railroad. So to commemorate the event I put this week's poster to good use. I used one on my recent photos from a visit to the Niles Canyon Railway. Weathered old passanger cars, rolling stock and locomotives have a lot of character. I love texture. If a picture is worth a thousand words, texture is worth millions. Texture adds emotion, it tells a story. Most of all, the mind can feel it without actually having to touch it.
